The Love Lighter

The 2011 theme for the AIGA Heart Art auction was “The Love Light Lounge.” As I was pondering some ideas such as lamps, lanterns etc, a Bic lighter popped into my mind. The Love Lighter quickly came to life. The first sketches were definitely a thin Bic but morphed into a Zippo. A Zippo will hold more love light for sure.

The Giving Tree

My 2010 donation to the AIGA Heart Art auction. When I got the notice that it was time to register my piece, I didn’t have a name for it. As I was filling out the application and got to the line “Title of piece” it just filled itself in. I love when that happens! Then I had to figure out what a giving tree actually looked like. I started with sketches of hearts falling from trees and hearts in trees and hearts floating out of trees but it just wasn’t working. My giving tree had to be something special. My giving tree was going to give out love-filled balloons. So there you have it.

Chick in a Box

One of my favorites! This one was made for the 2009 AIGA Colorado Heart Art Auction. I wanted to incorporate happiness, love and passion for life. If the title isn’t familiar, it was inspired by the infamous SNL spoof with Justin Timberlake…you’ll have to look that one up.

Love for All

For the 2008 AIGA Colorado Heart Art Auction, I wanted to show that love has no boundaries. Every person should be loved.
