Kitty and a fiddle

The latest donation to Operation Shower. This baby shower theme is called “Over the Moon”, coming from the poem Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon… I thought I’d offer up my vision of the kitty and the fiddle, in his pantaloons of glory. This should look cute in some nursery somewhere!

The Baking Dead

What do you get a super cool athlete woman that is fulfilling her dream to own a bakery? You’re right! A custom piece of art! Inspired by the colorful and edgy Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) art, this piece is centered around baking. A stylish skull with rolling pin and spatula crossbones shows off her whole wheat cookies, muffins and brownies that float all around.

SOLD

Butterfly

There’s not really much I can explain about this. The idea woke me up last night and it had to come out. So fly butter, fly!

Birdie Rescue

A friend posted a photo of her young son that had caught a bird in their yard. It was probably the cutest kid photo I’ve ever seen in my life and I was instantly inspired to draw it. Since we’ve had some warmer days up here in Colorado I wanted to get it finished. It is now my official Spring poster child (pun intended.) I admit that I did make some color changes along the way. I don’t think there are any of these birds free flying around Tennessee where they live, but I wanted the bird to go with the beautiful big blue eyes. Everything else just needed to be bright and “springy.”

Lovebirds

I’m excited to share this wedding gift for my sweet niece! The main goal was to create something as bright and beautiful as she is, and the bright future ahead of them. The two birds are in their wedding attire sharing a sweet kiss on their wedding day. The quote “Come live in my heart and pay no rent” is by Samuel Lover. It spoke to me as the perfectly sweet sidekick to a perfectly sweet pair. The wedding was beautiful and I wish them eons of happiness!

SOLD

Wonder Woman

Aww yeah she is! LeAnn’s 40th is upon us and her sister surprised her with her umpteenth Kirby Ink original. When I die, she and her family will own most of the gallery.  Thanks y’all! Big hugs! This piece represents just a few of the roles LeAnn plays. One you may have heard of is Co-founder of Operation Shower, an organization that provides baby showers for military moms whose husbands have either been deployed or are being deployed. Happy Birthday you wonder woman!

Doug’s Ascent

A Louisiana man is training for the Pike’s Peak Ascent that will be in Aug 2010. He was looking for an illustration that he could use in emails and blog posts to raise money for the boys and girls clubs. It needed to show a path with him running from Lafayette, La (elevation of 36 feet) to the Pikes Peak summit (elevation of 14,115 feet). Of course I was up for the challenge. More info about the Ascent.

Chick in a Box

One of my favorites! This one was made for the 2009 AIGA Colorado Heart Art Auction. I wanted to incorporate happiness, love and passion for life. If the title isn’t familiar, it was inspired by the infamous SNL spoof with Justin Timberlake…you’ll have to look that one up.

SOLD

Turning One

A lot was happening for this family (the Project Bliss family.) Their little boy was turning one and they were moving to Washington DC. I wanted to capture it all.

SOLD

Peacock

I love birds. I had seen a peacock at a wedding reception in Texas and had to get one out on paper.
