Mountain Pups

These two awesome dogs, Fremont and Mystic,  have climbed more mountains that I can count. They roam the hills with their owners James and Sheila. For Sheila’s birthday, James ordered a special art piece featuring the pups. I wanted to highlight the mountains and the state flower of Colorado, the Columbine, to show where these guys live. Also, James is a terrific writer and is author of a few mountain climbing books. You can check him out over at his Mountainous Words website.

Grandkids

I was contacted my my Uncle, back in September or October, to create a Christmas gift for his wife, my Aunt. I was honored! He wanted something that had all the grandkid’s names on it and that was the only request. After doing some pondering, I found a great quote about being a grandparent and decided on a house for the main theme. Home is where the heart is you know. Especially a grandparent’s home!

Kitty and a fiddle

The latest donation to Operation Shower. This baby shower theme is called “Over the Moon”, coming from the poem Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon… I thought I’d offer up my vision of the kitty and the fiddle, in his pantaloons of glory. This should look cute in some nursery somewhere!

SOLD

The Baking Dead

What do you get a super cool athlete woman that is fulfilling her dream to own a bakery? You’re right! A custom piece of art! Inspired by the colorful and edgy Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) art, this piece is centered around baking. A stylish skull with rolling pin and spatula crossbones shows off her whole wheat cookies, muffins and brownies that float all around.

Sunshine Farm

It’s the theme of the January Shower for military moms-to-be in San Diego. But it couldn’t JUST be a farm. Its also where all the suns grow. (You know we get a new one every day.) This one will be given away to one lucky mom in the crowd.

Life is Good

A dear friend’s wife asked me to create the perfect birthday piece that would show all of the great things happening in his life. This was not an easy task! I ended up going with a quilt-like theme using “stitches” to join each of the roles together. My favorite part is the special haiku that surrounds him, written by his sweet wife.

Jonas & Molly

July 18, 2010 is the happy first wedding anniversary for this sweet couple. The groom wanted to include great memories from the wedding day and the honeymoon to Mexico. I also wanted to include important bits of their life at home, their furry babies. To hold it all, the snapshots were placed inside a treasure chest of love (they really have one!) along with the good bottle of wine and the letters that they wrote to each other on their wedding day. They will open the letters and enjoy the wine on their 10th anniversary. Happy Anniversary you two and here’s to many many more!

SOLD

Wonder Woman

Aww yeah she is! LeAnn’s 40th is upon us and her sister surprised her with her umpteenth Kirby Ink original. When I die, she and her family will own most of the gallery.  Thanks y’all! Big hugs! This piece represents just a few of the roles LeAnn plays. One you may have heard of is Co-founder of Operation Shower, an organization that provides baby showers for military moms whose husbands have either been deployed or are being deployed. Happy Birthday you wonder woman!
