Man in Fish

You know, this was just one of those pieces that I have no clue what led me to do it. I stumbled across a tiny sketch of this, maybe an inch big as I was sorting through old papers. It was actually on the same sketch as Pig and Cabbage so no telling where my head was at. But when I saw it I knew it had to be born, officially.

Teeth & Tidy Whities

This commemorates the evening I met Shaq. Yes, Shaquille O’Neal, the famous basketball player. At the time he was playing ball at LSU, where I went to college (Geaux Tigers!). A group of us had gone to one of the basketball player’s apartments after the bars closed (one of the girls was dating one of them). They all headed to the kitchen for drinks and I plopped on the couch in the dark and turned on the TV.  All of a sudden a pair of white undies floated past (way up high in the air) and I then saw bright nice white teeth smiling down at me. He said “Hi, how you doin, I’m Shaquille O’Neal” and shook my hand. He then turned around, got dressed and left since our gang was too loud (he had been sleeping). I was in awe over his size and got nosy. I had to peek in his room to see how someone that large lived. There was no bed, only a twin mattress on the floor. A pair of his ginormous shoes were on the floor so I put one of my feet in (I had on white Keds) and my toe was still showing in the opening of his size 22 monster. Now I’m typically not nosy (sorry Shaq) but I had had a little to drink. I remember him being such a nice guy.

Tai Chi Chai Tea

My neighbor Joe presented me with a list of amazing titles that offered up many wonderful visuals. This is the first in the series. It’s taken me a couple years to actually get it down on paper but the vision is complete. Now time for some tea.

Epic

This super cute couple has been dating for over a year and Lori needed something fun and different to give Jeff as a gift. Lori owns a cycling fitness center called Epic Ryde, the premier indoor cycling studio in Denver and they are both very active. This piece shows the couple with his sweet son, adopted from Korea and things that they like to do. I wish them all the best in their future together!

Mountain Pups

These two awesome dogs, Fremont and Mystic,  have climbed more mountains that I can count. They roam the hills with their owners James and Sheila. For Sheila’s birthday, James ordered a special art piece featuring the pups. I wanted to highlight the mountains and the state flower of Colorado, the Columbine, to show where these guys live. Also, James is a terrific writer and is author of a few mountain climbing books. You can check him out over at his Mountainous Words website.

Abby in the Garden

My Mama has a little Corgi named Abby. She’s a dainty princess that doesn’t know she’s a dog. When she goes out into the back yard she smiles as she sniffs the plants and flowers.

Flashdance Flight

This is epic y’all! The first Kirby Ink with…GLITTER.

I was inspired by The Bloggess, who just got her very own pony Pegasus (you’ll have to read to understand), so I made this for her as a, I guess you can call it, a welcome pony Pegasus party gift. But when I first saw it, I not only saw the sweet pony with wings, I saw the sweet pony with wings and leg warmers. Which led to the Flashdance theme. This is not your average My Little Pony folks. The glittery sweatshirt, leg warmers and headband just scream sassy! Whether this pony Pegasus is a boy or a girl I am not sure, but does it matter? It’s pure flair in the air.

Miss M

Drew up this little cutie to include in a thank you note. Since the weather has been cold and snowy, and winter seemed to be lingering, I wanted my friend to have a touch of Spring.

The good life

This was a fun one! Ordered by a friend for another friend’s birthday, it was a challenge I must admit. I wanted to incorporate his race car, some of the track he drives on, his new company’s logo and the names of his precious girls. All in one piece.

Harley & Jesse

This was a Christmas gift for my Aunt. She has these two funny sweet little dogs that were just begging to be drawn. I almost made them out of felt but loved the sketches so much that they stayed in ink. I also tried something a little different with this one, coloring only the rug and collars, leaving the pups in gray. I love how it made them stand out in a neat new way.
